It is hard to believe that Owen is 3.5 months now! He is growing and changing so much every day. We just love him so much and are in awe of everything new he does!
He is much more interactive and observant now. When he is sitting in his swing, bouncy chair, or car seat he always likes to have a toy in his hand and plays with it. He also puts his hands in his mouth a lot- sometimes tries to get his whole hand in there! He babbles a lot lately too- he is quite the talker even if it is just gibberish. But it is super cute! He looks you in the eyes and loves to smile all the time and his smile is amazing. He is just starting to giggle a little bit. I am pretty sure I have heard him do it twice and then last night, October 23, he giggled for Daddy! It was so adorable. He also has lots of dark blond hair growing in...finally more hair than Daddy!
When we are home Owen and Mommy keep busy going out every day. We just finished our Mother Goose program and now are going to session at the Library called “Tales and Tunes” where there are about 10 other moms and babies from 2 to 6 months old and a Librarian who leads a sing song of nursery rhymes, songs, stories etc. Owen is very attentive at this and looks around and takes it all in. He seems to really enjoy it. We are also busy during the week going to all the Mom and Baby activities in Oakville including Mommy Connections, Stroller fit at Lulu lemon, Buggy Business (45 min stroller walk and then story time in the library), play dates with other babies, Calling new parents session at the Oakville Parent Child Centre, and lots of walks and trips to the gym where Owen goes to the nursery while mommy works out. Mommy is meeting lots of other new mothers in the area and thus lots of new friends for Owen.
Owen and Mommy took a trip to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia for 10 days from Oct 13 to Oct 23. We had a great trip. Owen was so well behaved on the plane both to and from. He cried for the first couple of minutes when we first got on but never cried again the whole ride! On the plane ride home he was wonderful as well, sleeping through almost the whole ride and only crying briefly a few times. During the trip Owen was able to spend lots of time with his Grampy and Grammy Russell and also meet his Great Nanny Russell, Aunty Allison, all the neighbours on Coventry Crescent, some Great Aunts and Uncles, second cousins, all the farm crew including Jennifer Nauss, and some other family friends. While we were in Nova Scotia we had a photo shoot with cousin Samantha at her photo studio. During the photo shoot we had Owen in a pumpkin and he would not sit in it, he just wanted to stand up and he did (he is very strong in his legs). During the photo shoot he also rolled over for the first time (from front to back) and his Grammy and Grampy were able to be there to see that! It was pretty neat! While we were on our trip Owen had a few rough days as he experienced his first cold. He was not himself for a day or two and was quite stuffed up. Luckily he had his Grammy, who is a retired nurse, to take care of him, and his cold went away. Owen has always been a great sleeper since he was born and was sleeping through the night in his crib for the past few weeks but when he got his cold he had a few nights where he was up quite a few times and just wouldn’t settle. He is starting to get back on track now and we are hoping he goes back to his wonderful sleep habits! Overall we had a wonderful trip but it was much too long to be away from Daddy and he missed Owen and Mommy like crazy. We won't be taking anymore trips that long without Daddy!
