His beautiful curls that daddy wanted to cut off :-(
On his way to Melonheads in downtown Oakville
He was a such a good boy. We thought we might have to give him some treats, but he didn't need any. He just sat there mesmerized by all the colors, sights and sounds of the kids barber shop.
He wasen't too sure what that lady was doing to him
Owen is 1!!! We had a wonderful family birthday party for
him on Monday July 2. It was hosted by Nick’s parents. The sun was shining, the
pool was the perfect temperature, the food was delicious and it was great to be
in the company of great family and friends. Owen was the center of attention as
he should be for his 1st birthday. He was completely spoiled with so many nice presents including wonderful
books, clothes, toys etc. He is one lucky boy!

So many presents!
He certainly go spoiled this year for his birthday- Check out all his b-day cards:
Not only did Owen turn 1 but this has been a big week in
terms of milestones as well.
Owen started Daycare this week. On his first day he did fine
when I dropped him off. I sort of left quickly so he wouldn’t notice. And when I came to pick him up he was smiling
and playing with the other kids. But the daycare provider, Sue Sue, told me
that when they took him to gymnastics (He doesn’t participate in the gymnastics
yet but some of the older 3 and 4 year olds had a class so Sue Sue brought Owen
along) he cried the whole time! Considering he was in a strange place without
me, during his nap time when he usually naps in the morning, I don’t blame him!
It is definitely going to be an adjustment. When I dropped him off yesterday he seemed fine for me to leave him and
again I slipped out without him really noticing. When I picked him up he seemed
happy to see me again. But Sue Sue said
that he was fussy most of the time, was throwing things and wouldn’t listen to “No”.Today was much better- Sue Sue said he was
much better. He ate lunch there today for the first time and Sue Sue said he
ate really good (not a suprise!). He is
going for half days again next week when Grammy is here and then the week after
that he starts full time!
Owen has had some other milestones this week as well. He is
walking on his own more and more. Tuesday when we were at a playdate I saw him
leave where he was standing and walk across the room, at least 10 times. He is
getting more and more confident. I would say he is WALKING now.He still crawls alot to get to things, but I
think within the next couple weeks he will be fully walking.
On Wednesday while we were out for dinner with Nick’s
parents Owen started drinking from a straw. The waitress gave him a plastic
kids cup with a straw and he immediately grabbed it and started drinking. He
drank almost the whole cup of water!
I made this video for all the "Oakville Moms and Babies" that we have met this year while on mat leave and spent alot of time with. We have a page on facebook where we all communicate and everyone was sharing their favorite memories from the year. When I started reading it I started to get teary eyed realizing this wonderful year is over. I started looking through all the pictures trying to decide what my favorite thing was and I couldn't decide. I realized I had a lot of great pics of everything we did together this year, so I put together a video slide show and shared it with all the
Mom's. They LOVED it! Here it is:
It's been a busy and exciting week around here. Last week was officially my last week of maternity leave (this week I am still home but technically "on vacation"). Since this week was our last week together before Owen started daycare we tried to make the most out of it by making it to every last playdate, strollerfit session, trips to the park, and even Marine Land for the day! We had an incredibly busy weekend filled with parties, parties, parties and so much cake! It was Owen's friend Alistairs 1st birthday on Saturday, June 30 (but he isn't having his party until August), Ksenia's 1st birthday on Sunday July 1, and Owen's 1st birthday on July 2. This coming weekend we have 2 more 1 year old birthday parties to go to- Annabelle turns 1 on Saturday July 7 and Kaitlyn on Sunday July 8. It really was an amazing weekend this past weekend that I will remember forever, and even though Owen probably won't remember it, I know he had a great time and he can always look back on the pictures.
Here are some shots of our trip to Marine Land with Ksenia and her mom Yuliya and Camden and her Mom Michelle, last Thursday. It was a great day!

I think its safe to say, they had a good time at Marine Land!
On Saturday we had a "Summer Party" in our backyard which was not an actual birthday party for Owen (we didn't decorate or have a cake for him as we were doing that on Monday with family) but Owen was still treated as the birthday boy and got spoiled with lots of gifts. Here are some pics from the party. We had 35 adults and 15 kids ranging from the age of 4 months to 6 years old. It was so much fun!
