Owen enjoys Autumnfest in Oakville

This weekend we met up with Owen's buddy Jack at the Autumnfest event in Bronte Village of Oakville. He had fun watching the Children entertainers, visiting the petting zoo and just enjoying a nice Saturday afternoon in the nice fall weather.

Owen has a bit of cold today (Sunday) and has had a good day just relaxing and playing around the house. Here he is chilling with daddy on the couch. You can see his red cheeks. Poor guy! Hopefully he won't be too sick for daycare this week.

Owen loves to Play

This past weekend we went for a playdate at Owen's friend Kate's house (Mom- Jen McArthur). Kate and Owen played well together...it was super cute. They are only 10 days apart (Kate is older).

On Sunday of this weekend Owen and Daddy came down to Coronation park in Oakville to cheer Mommy on as she ran her first 10 km. This is Owen playing in the park before the race.

Reminiscing

I came across some old pictures on my cell phone that I haven't seen since I took them. I love seeing pictures I haven't seen in a long time. When I look at them I can't believe how tiny Owen was. So little and adorable!

Owen loves Daycare!

Owen is doing really well at daycare these days. After a week of being away from daycare when we went to the Maritimes I was wondering what Owen would be like when he got dropped off on the first day back.  He just happily walked in and ran up to Sue Sue his daycare provider) and didn’t seem sad or scared at all when I left.  Some mornings when we get out of the car now he runs up the driveway towards the door.  When we come inside I tell him “sit down and take off your shoes” and he sits right down and tries to get his shoes off (but still needs my help) then once they are off he runs into the hallway looking for Sue Sue! Sue said that Owen is doing really well adjusting and would say that he is “better than average” which made me very happy to hear!  In one of his journal entries this week she wrote that when she says “One, Two” he says “Three!”. Nick and I have not heard him do this but she says he does it alot. Also she said that he called her name “Sue Sue” this past week.  That is pretty cool! The only definite words we have heard from him so far are "Mama, Dada, and Nah (no)" but sometimes we think he may have said other words but then don't hear them again....

Sue Sue sent us this picture on Thursday...they went to a toy store after story time and Owen grabbed 2 dolls....so funny!

Playdate With Ksenia!

This past weekend we went to an open house going on at a local indoor playground called “Busy Genie”. We met Owen’s friend Ksenia and her mom Yuliya there and the two of them had a great time playing with all the toys while the mom’s got to catch up.  Fun playdate!

 Owen loves playing kitchen!
Little Friends (these 2 are only 1 day apart. Ksenia was born July 1 and Owen July 2 but she is about 11 lbs lighter! lol)

All Done!

Owen clearly enjoyed his blueberry pancakes!  He had them everywhere!  In this picture he is showing us that he is "All Done" or that the pancakes are "All Gone".  We noticed him doing this when we were in the Maritimes and I didn't know where he learned it becuase I didn't teach it to him. Well apparently this what they do at daycare and is now his new thing. It is SO cute!

Later that day we decided to take him to get his hari cut. As you can see above it was getting pretty long and getting in he eyes sometimes and always getting matted in the back.  So instead of taking him to the Melonheads place we took him to my hairdresser and friend Sarah.  She is awesome and gave him a terrific cut. It wasen't as fun of an experience for him as Melonheads as there was no car to sit in or cartoons on TV, but he was a very good boy sitting on Nick's knee.

All done and looking very handsome!

Later that day we had a visit from my friend Jamie and her husband Harry and their daughter Rachel. Rachel is 19 months old. We hadn't seen her since last August and boy have both her and Owen changed!!

Owen and Rachel shared quite a few hugs and kisses. It was very cute!

When we went to Owen's friend Olivia's 1st birthday party her parents hired a Lady who draws Caricatures. Here is her drawing of us!

Wonderful trip to the East Coast

Owen and I had a wonderful trip to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia the last week of August. Owen was very excited to see his Grammy and Grampy Russell and spend lots of time with them. Unfortunately Daddy couldn’t come because he had to stay home and work during his very busy season.

On the plane on our way to Saint John, New Brunswick. Luckily we had no one sitting beside us so Owen had his own seat to sit in and play. He was a very good boy. I kept him entertained with snacks and new toys I had bought from the dollar store especially the new Ernie and Bert coloring book and crayons!

 Having a nap with Grampy!

Grammy had lots and lots of toys for him to play with.  He especially love the chairs she had for him - Uncle Andrew's big bird chair and the little lawn chair. He liked getting up on it frontwards and then trying to get his legs out and turn around and sit. Unfortunately it was a big high for him and his feet didn't touch the ground once he got sitting in it, so we had to help him out.  He also had fun pushing it around - amazing how a lawn chair could provide so many hours of entertainment for a 14 month old!

Allison and I took him to Saint John's new Costco (big deal for SJ to get a Costco!) and Owen loved the big teddy bear. I was tempted to buy it for him when we go back home, but where the heck would be put something that big, so I don't think so. But he had lots of laughs at Costco.

The weather was wonderful pretty much the whole week we were visiting.  This is a pic of lunch with Allison and Grammy at Rockwood park.

The Exhibition (ANE) was going on while we were there. Allison and I couldn't help but stop in with Owen. The ANE brings back many good memories for Allison and I as we spent many hours and days going to it as kids and teens.  It was exciting that Allison got to witness Owen on his very first ride on a Merry Go Round.  I think he enjoyed it. He didn't smile much but he held on tight and was really taking it all in and looking around. We also went to a petting zoo while at the ANE. Owen had fun visiting all the horses, cows, rabbits, goats etc. He was waving to alot of them.

Here is Owen seeing a rabbit for the first time

The next stop on our trip was to Mahone Bay to visit Nanny Russell . The last time he saw Nanny Russell when he was only 3.5 months old. Nanny noticed a big difference!!

Look at how much he has grown!

He got to see Aunt Trudy too!

We had fun at the playground in Mahone Bay. Love that Nanny Russell, who is in her mid 80's was swinging with Owen. What a lady!

 Owen loved this little thing

Owen and some of his favorite people

Grammy spent alot of time chasing Owen around the park
He loves slides, especially climbing up them.

This dog was at the park and very friendly. Her name was Flossy. She kept wanting us to play fetch with her. Owen loves dogs and was having fun petting her and giving her kisses.

Having fun at the wharf in Mahone Bay. Such a beautiful night.

Owen wanted to go near the edge to see the water and Grammy had fun chasing him making sure he didn't go too close!

We had a great visit to Mahone Bay! Can't wait for our next visit.

Our next stop was at the Farm in Barney's River Nova Scotia.  Here is Owen and Grampy having breakfast together.

We went to Big Island beach to show Owen where Mommy and Daddy got engaged. It was a very windy day and sort of cold so we couldn't really spend time on the actual beach or go in the water, but we managed to find a protected area among the tall grass and Owen had fun playing with the sand.

Owen had fun getting into everything at the farm. He was very busy running around. He had lots of fun.

Our last stop was Halifax. We stayed in hotel downtown and had perfect weather. This was us on the rooftop patio of our hotel.

 Owen visits Jennifer Nauss!

It was hard for Grammy and Grampy to say bye to Owen but they will see him again soon in October. This is at the Halifax airport right before our flight. Owen tells Grampy how much fun he had visiting him.

Thanks for the wonderful trip Grammy and Grampy, Love Owen and Shannon! Miss you and love you. oxoxoxo
