25 Weeks - Owen's First Christmas!

Hard to believe that Owen will be 6 months old in a few short days. He is really turning into more of little boy and less of a baby each day. He has lots of personality. He smiles and laughs all the time and especially when you play peek-a-boo with him, or when you tickle his belly with your nose or when you turn your head and then look back at him quickly and say “Hi Owen”. His favorite song right now is "10 Little Monkeys jumping on the bed". For some reason when you sing him this song he stops crying! He sits up all by himself and plays with his toys. He is great with belly time now and even shows signs that he might crawl soon. He is also very strong when we hold him up and walk him around the room. He can also stand on his own for a few seconds when holding on to furniture. He just loves all his toys and puts everything in his mouth. On the jolly jumper he jumps so high that it looks like he is going to break it. He just loves the jolly jumper and squeals with happiness. He also loves his excersaucer and bounces in that and spends up to 20 minutes sometimes just playing with the toys. He can pull all the toys that are overhead now and make them play music. When he is in his crib we always find him in a different position. He uses his legs against the bars to push off of and turns himself around in the crib. He sleeps mostly on his side now so his bald spot on his head is almost no longer bald. We are about to give back his ``Nap Nanny`chair to Kristin (we borrowed it from her) and put away his swing and bouncy chair. He is getting too big for these and will not need them anymore. We also have moved the top level of the play pen out and he is now sitting in the bottom part of it. We weighed him on Christmas day and he is 18.4 lbs! He is wearing 6-9 month clothing and even fits in some 12 month clothes. Today (December 30 at 5 months and 4 weeks) I saw him roll over from his back to front (he has rolled from his front to back for a while now). Owen is also loving the solid foods he has had so far. He started Rice cereal at 4 months and 3 weeks old and then Oatmeal at 5 months and 2 weeks old. He loves both but loves Oatmeal quite a bit more now than rice cereal. He also had some turkey mixed with rice cereal on December 22 with Andrew`s turkey dinner and then again the next night. We will be starting vegetables (sweet potato) this week at 6 months old. I have to say that this really is such a great time with Owen. He is just so much fun and his constant smiles and giggles melt our hearts. He is great because he is not yet mobile so we are not chasing him around the house, but he has so much personality and is such a happy baby. We are enjoying him so much.

Owen had a wonderful 1st Christmas. He went to lots of Christmas parties leading up to Christmas and then his Grammy and Grampy Russell arrived on December 18 and his Uncle Andrew arrived on Dec 19. He got to spend lots of good quality time with them and loved it. His Grammy Russell read him lots of stories and sang to him alot. He spent lots of time on his Grampy`s lap. Uncle Andrew played with him alot. We had a great Christmas dinner and exchanged presents with Andrew on December 21(Andrew had to leave on December 22 to go to Mexico to spend Christmas with Owen`s Aunt Sandra). Here are some pics of us celebrating Christmas with Andrew.

Sandra and Andrew got an adorable little suit for Owen for Christmas. Here is a pic of Owen trying it on (He wasen`t in the best mood that day).

On Christmas eve we went to Owen`s great Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Bill`s house and saw all the cousins. Owen was dressed in his Santa suit and was the hit of the party, even with the 3 dogs Charlie, Sadie, and Boston. On Christmas morning Owen had a great time. He was awoken to Grampy`s dancing Santa and got a kick out of it. There were so many presents under the tree for him- Santa definitely found our house this year! His best gifts were his Sesame Street ride on School Bus (From Grammy and Grampy Russell) his Fisher Price Ferris Wheel (From cousin Matthew and Jenn), and his new sleigh (from Grandma and Grandpa Willett). He also got some many nice clothes, books, and little toys. He is a very lucky boy.
