Owen is so much fun right now. He is so busy exploring everything, making lots of sounds (talks alot but its all gibberish), interested in everything and so curious. He smiles and giggles so much and makes me laugh over and over throughout the day. Its so amazing to see a child discovering the world around them.
His walking is getting better and better too. He still mostly crawls from one place to another but each day we notice him letting go and walking over to something. He isn't quite confident yet to totally walk on his own unless we ask him to walk to us, but I can see him getting better and better each day. But boy can he crawl now- he just motors across the room. He is so quick! I am constantly chasing him around and he loves going for the stairs. He giggles as he crawls up them and he is always so proud of himself when he makes it to the top.
His other new thing right now is taking things out of buckets or shelfs and throwing them on the floor. He especially loves doing this with all his books on his book shelf in his room. Its a fun game for him. But he also does it with laundry in the laundry basket, the letter magnets on his easel, lego in the box, and toys in his crib or pack and play.
This past weekend was Father's Day. Owen made this for Daddy in his Storytime class at the Library. It can be either a Fish or Tie, whichever you want it to be. For Daddy it was a Fish as Nick loves fishing (not to mention doesn't really wear ties, lol). Owen licked all the stickers and then I gave t hem to him to stick on the paper. He did a good job!
This is Owen's other gift to Daddy. We made this when we did our pottery painting playdate a few weeks ago. Owen's foot prints are pretty cute (not to mention actually pretty big for a 11.5 month old. Almost needed a bigger mug haha!)
Owen and his Grandpa Willett on Father's Day
Owen couldn't spend Father' Day with his Grandpy Russell, but he did send some Father' day wishes his way
We did lots of Swimming this week - 3 times in Yuliya's pool, and twice in Grandma and Grandpa's pool. Owen loves the water and even after his Pedia swim is not the least bit scared. We have been praticing his Pedia swim skills as well while in the pool each time, and he is doing fantastic floating and turning over etc.
This was the last week of Story Time at the Library. We were in this program for 13 weeks, so it was kind of sad to see it end as we got to really know the teacher Paige, and the other babies. Here is a picture of Owen in the class with the other babies. He always has fun clapping along.
He decided it was time for him to takeover the class and teach
This week we also had a fun play date at Owen's friend Jack's house. It was a "Pudding Playdate" where we had multicolored jello and pudding and the babies painted with it. Was definitely messy but they loved it. They all went in the turle pool after for a bath, but that night Owen's hair was so sticky we had to give him an extra long bath.
This past weekend was also really fun. On Saturday I went to a yardsale on my street and really scored some great toys for Owen. I got all of the things below for a total of $40! Owen is a lucky boy and loves all his new toys. He especially loves his new BBQ and has been making me lunch for the past couple of days. He just loves bbq'ing. Maybe he will take after his Dad and be a great cook!
Making Mommy lunch
Loves his Flinstone car
We also went to the Burlington Music Festival this past weekend. This was the 4th year in a row that Nick and I have gone to this. They have some great artists and its all for free. Not to mention its right on the waterfront so such a nice setting and the weather was absolutely perfect. For this event we went Sat evening so Nick could see his favorite band right now, Rural Alberta Advantage. We drove Nick and Jamie to the concert and walked with them to the Beer Tent. I tried to see if they would let Owen in, but unforunatley he forgot his id, so they wouldn't let him in! So Owen and I watched the concert for a bit and talked to Nick and Jamie over the fence. We then walked around for a bit and Owen went to his first ever Middway. He watched the other kids on the Merry Go Round and we talked about how he will be able to go on some of the kiddie rides next year. I could tell he was excited. After that I went and got a gelato and Owen and I sat up on the hill and shared the gelato (he LOVES it) and watched the rest of the concert together. Since Nick plays this music so much around the house I actually knew all the songs and really enjoyed the concert.
And today we had a visit from Great Aunt Suzanne! We had fun going for walk to the park with Charlie and going on the swings. Owen also showed Suzanne all his talents- walking, waving, dancing, crawling, doing the stairs, making her lunch on his bbq and kitchen, feeding himself his lunch and much more. It was a great visit!
