Wow what a busy and fun week filled with friends, playdates, swimming, sun, birthday celebrations and more! Last Friday Owen and I hosted our first offical "play date" at our house. Owen's friends Ksenia (Mom Yuliya), Camden (Mom Michelle), Olivia (Mom Amanda), Justin (Mom Carmen), and Alistair (Mom Hilary) all came over for the afternoon and the babies played with all of Owen's new toys including the water table (below) and his bouncy castle. It was a beautiful afternoon in the backyard and everyone had a great time as we listened to Owen's music, the kids played, and the Mom's enjoyed a glass of wine in the sun.
On Saturday morning Owen and I went to Coronation Park for a playdate at the splash pad with some of the Boys from our July 2011 Mom's group. It was a perfect morning weatherwise and we had a great time.
Last Saturday evening we had a visit from Lyanne, Kevin, Haley, and Logan from Ottawa. Logan and Owen are 1 day apart and its so cute to see them together. Lyanne and I know they will turn out to be good buddies, even if they live 5 hours apart. It was fun to watch them play together.

They both loved the toy BBQ
It was Lyanne's 33rd B-day on June 24 and Logan's is July 1st and Owen's is July 2, so we had an ice cream cake from Baskin Robins to celebrate.
Logan and Owen were getting into everything. Its crazy how much Owen is discovering these days. He is so curious about everything and opens every drawer and cupboard he can find. Lately the things he has been obsessed with are Charlie's water bowl (which is knocked over 4 times last week), the broom and dust pan, plastic grocery bags, drawers and cupboards with drawers in them. He has also figured out how to get our "temporary" baby gate open. We need to install a proper one at the bottom of our stairs but because one side is railing we need to go buy a special one. For now we have been putting the gate we bought for Charlie (so she wouldn't go upstairs to use the bathroom when we are not home) at the bottom of the stairs, but Owen is clever enough to have figured out how to open it. So I am off to Safety Superstore this weekend to get a proper babygate!!
Owen "Cleaning"
We have been trying to say "No" to Owen now when he shouldn't be doing something. I don't think its very successful thus far because right now all he does when you say "NO" is smile and point at you. He does it without fail, and you can't help but smile back as much as you don't want to.
This weekend we purchased a used Bike Trailer from another Oakville Mom. It was only $25 and seems to work great! We have taken Owen on a few bike rides and can't wait to take him on more!
This week we also went a "Birthday Playdate" that our Oakville mom's group organized. Since so many of the babies have their birthdays in June, July or August we decided to have a little birthday party to celebrate all the birthday's together. We went to a place called "Scribble and Splatter" where all the kids got very messy and did some body painting and artwork. Then we had a big cake for all the kids and sang happy birthday to them and they all had a candle on their cake. It was so much fun and a great way to celebrate all of the birthday's together. We have met so many wonderful new friends this year, it was a nice celebration to end the year off.

Today we went for a swim in Yuliya and Ksenia's pool.
This afternoon Owen's friends Ella and Cameron came over with their mom Christine for a visit. They really knew how to use the bouncy castle and loved it. Lots of bouncing, showing Owen how its used. They also had fun playing kitchen with Owen down in the basement. It was a nice visit.
And of course, on June 22 it was Aunt Sandra's Birthday, so Owen sent along his wishes to his Aunt Sandra whom he loves and misses!
